Emma Esper, LMFT, APCC

Marriage and Family Therapist, Professional Clinical Counselor

Welcome

You deserve to heal.

The greatest act of love we can show to ourselves is taking that vulnerable step towards really seeing ourselves and letting our genuine selves be seen by others. This requires that we see our whole self, including the parts that are painful to witness. There is such beauty in showing up for yourself, such bravery in turning towards struggle rather than running from it. When we deny our struggle, we deny a part of us that is longing to be seen. Struggle and suffering are hard to face, as it often leaves us feeling broken. Many of us were never taught to embrace our flaws and imperfections. What if we could see the broken pieces of ourselves, the parts of us that are scarred, and view them with compassion? What if we saw our scars as marks of courage and resiliency?  What if we took these broken pieces of ourselves and mended them in such a way that we become more unique, more captivating, and more powerful? We marvel at the grace of an imperfect tree, with its bends, twists, and knots. What if we could see our own imperfections as beautiful?

My work is based on the hope that we can step into our authentic selves, allow ourselves to feel without shame, accept our darkness, live mindfully in our own light, and recognize that who we are is enough.

The Benefits of Therapy

Psychotherapy can be an effective tool in providing you with the necessary support and training to overcome the challenges you face. By seeking therapy, you are taking responsibility and action to change what no longer works in your life. Many studies have shown throughout the years that psychotherapy is an effective form of treating and managing mental illnesses and other emotional disorders.

As an experienced marriage and family therapist and professional clinical counselor, it is my honor to assist you in exploring your core issues and move toward a healthy, fulfilling life. Utilizing a variety of approaches including Cognitive/Cognitive-Behavioral, Compassion Focus Therapy, Experiential, Gottman Method, Person-Centered, I will work with you to create a treatment plan that is customized to meet your unique circumstances.

In therapy, I provide a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment, promoting self-acceptance and instilling hope as you identify, express, and share your thoughts, feelings, and life experiences.

“Wounds don’t heal the way you want them to, they heal the way they need to. It takes time for wounds to fade into scars. It takes time for the process of healing to take place. Give yourself that time. Give yourself that grace. Be gentle with your wounds. Be gentle with your heart. You deserve to heal.”
